My Kralicek family – all decendants of Franklin and Helen (Kadrmas) Kralicek live in the area of Haley. Grandchildren (my cousins) still own the original Kralicek family farm, not far from Haley. I have had the great pleasure of spending time there over the years. My dad’s first cousin owns the Haley school bell that she told us she bought at a fund raiser many years ago after the school shut down. She said she had to save her egg money to pay for it, which was no easy task back in those days!! I have several pictures of what is left of the town taken on a visit there several years ago. The old iron bridge is still a commanding sight there, and was the location of one cousin’s wedding. It is a beautiful place, that holds many great memories for my family – many who attended the Haley school back in the day. Thanks for including this small piece of my North Dakota family history in your collection.

The post office was also a hotel at one time. I wish I knew more of this history of the hotels in Haley, as I have a pitcher and bowl from one of the hotels that was purchased by Billly Lindros when the hotel closed. I think it closed around 1910 or so. My grandfather owned a blacksmith shop in Haley in 1908 when he homesteaded a few miles southwest of Haley. Surely do miss that country!
